        The Online Information Session of the "BEST" Programme was successfully held on August 27 . Below are the playback and presentation materials for your reference.

        SEMESTER 1: MISSION DESIGN PRESENTATION PHASE

        EPISODE 1 :

        AN INTRODUCTION TO SPACE: The new frontier in Science, Technology and Commerce (Sept 24, 4:30-6:30pm)

        1. Fundamentals

        • Space Science – at the frontiers of science 
        • Space engineering – cutting edge technologies and challenging segments
        • Space Astropreneurship – imagination and opportunities 

        2. CubeSat concept, their history, power and potential

        • What can CubeSats do? 
        • How can CubeSats solve problems on earth & in space?  

        EPISODE 2 :

        DEFINING MISSIONS & MANAGING PROJECTS (Oct 8, 4:30-6:30pm)

        • CubeSat typical mission structure 
        • Project Management and project team roles 
        • Typical mission timetable from inception to launch  
        • Can School teams compete to really build a CubeSat? 
        • Team selection – issues to consider when forming your teams
        • Mentoring to work on live problems encountered by teams  

         

        All school teams should be in place BEFORE Episode 3

        EPISODE 3 :

        SELECTING AND FUNDING MISSIONS (Oct 22, 4:30-6:30pm)

        • How to formulate/select a CubeSat mission  
        • Costing a mission – depends on mission scope  
        • Funding a mission – challenges and solutions  
        • Project management: the business side via marketing & funding  
        • Project technical requirements – what are the tools?  

        PITCH VIDEO PRESENTATION (Nov 30)

        • All teams shall submit a 5-minute “pitch-type” video by November 30, 2021 (23:59 HKT). The judge panel will review all video pitches and present feedback on CubeSat Payload ideas, design, planning and insights for commercial exploitation of payloads.
      • SEMESTER 2 : BUILD & DEPLOY PROTOTYPE PHASE

        EPISODE 4:

        PROJECT MANAGEMENT & FUNDRAISING FOR CUBESAT PROTOTYPE TESTING, DATA, SUBSYSTEMS, BUILD & DEPLOYMENT (2022 Jan 14, 4:30-6:30pm)

        • The why and the how and importance of project management
        • How applications can help solve problems in Data analysis and data management
        • A close look into product and project marketing as a route to success
        • How to be an effective fund-raiser and the importance of effective communication

        EPISODE 5 :

        PROJECT PAYLOAD CONSIDERATIONS & A SCIENCE OR COMMERCIAL FOCUS? (2022 Jan 28, 4:30-6:30pm)

        • Selling your CubeSat mission for a science payload  
        • Selling your CubeSat mission for a commercial payload  
        • The practical stuff: Launching and mission Longevity  
        • 3-D printing - relevance to CubeSats and Space Exploration 
        • What next? Startups, investors and commercial climate  

        EPISODE 6 :

        SAFETY, LEGAL ISSUES, HAZARDS & REVIEW (2022 Feb 18, 4:30-6:30pm)

        • Legal stuff: Licensing, communication, frequency allocation 
        • Trash or Treasure – getting crowded up there  
        • Tips, ideas & issues when compiling your presentations  
        • Interactive session – questions, queries, issues and problems 

        TECHNICAL Q&A SESSION
